Sharon Hawker-Baddeley-sensei began training in wado-ryu in 1995.
She has competed in several local competitions, as well as in the
BASKA Championships and the FEKO Championships. She has
won numerous trophies in both kata and kumite.
She opened Shingitai Karate Club in Braintree, Essex in 1998 and
now has around 70 students of all ages and abilities, and of both sexes.
Shingitai Karate Club does not enter competitions, as
Hawker-Baddeley-sensei no longer has any interest in sport karate,
preferring to focus instead on the traditional aspects of her art. She
has trained several people from beginner to black belt. She passed to
nidan, second dan, in 2003.
Hawker-Baddeley-sensei considers herself very fortunate that she
has been able to attend many national courses over the years and
to have trained with some fine martial artists. She has also organised several
courses in the Essex area. In September 2004 she taught at the
shindo-ryu 20th anniversary course alongside some very senior
masters.
Hawker-Baddeley-sensei is thrilled to have been invited to teach at
the 2005 Kodosai, for which she has also been appointed Fuku Shissei (Deputy Administrator).
