Ross Iannoccaro-sensei 6 Dan UK
Ross Iannoccaro-sensei 6 Dan UK

With over 30 years' experience in martial arts, Ross Iannoccaro-sensei is one of the UK's most respected, versatile and well-rounded teachers.

In 1980, he formed his own jujutsu association, Tai Jutsu Kai, which has produced many talented jujutsuka as well as British and world champions. In 1990, he formed the National Ju Jutsu Kumite Council and dedicated it to the promotion of sport jujutsu. His format for the sport has become the most successful and widely accepted format ever to be devised for jujutsu practitioners in the UK. With five major tournaments a year, including national and international events, thousands of practitioners are enjoying competing in NJJKC events.

Iannoccaro-sensei's passion for and interest in the martial arts extends across the whole spectrum of jujutsu. Having trained in Japan, he maintains his traditional roots by being the only representative of Fumon Tanaka-soke, 19th Grandmaster of kukishin-ryu bujutsu.

To further enhance and improve the all-round abilities of his students, Iannoccaro-sensei teamed up with Carley Gracie-sensei from the legendary Gracie family of jujutsu. Carley Gracey-sensei was the first member of the Gracie family to come to the UK.

In April 2000, Iannoccaro-sensei launched Grapple & Strike, the full fighting mixed martial arts showcase. Grapple & Strike invites fighters from all styles to try their skills on the mat in an event that many would call the complete fighting challenge. With several successful competitions under its belt, it has proved that mat fighting can provide as much glamour and excitement as ring or cage fighting.

The outstanding contribution Iannoccaro-sensei has made to martial arts has earned him wide-spread respect throughout the martial arts world. Having appeared twice on the front cover of Combat magazine, he has also been inducted into the Combat Hall of Fame.

As well as working extensively within all areas of the International Ju Jutsu Alliance, Iannoccaro-sensei continues to be fully committed to his own association, Tai Jutsu Kai. Iannoccaro-sensei is currently a rokudan, sixth dan.
